Boots Holiday Makeup Gifts Haul + Swatches (Under £20s)

IMG_3689

While all my friends and family in America are gearing up for Thanksgiving, across the pond in England, we are heading straight to Christmas! During my early October visit to Boots, I was happily surprised to see all the holiday gift sets were centre staged in the store. This year, in the makeup/beauty department, a lot of big brands have really stepped up their games. Here are my boots holiday makeup/beauty haul + swatches under £20s.

Pantone Universe 24 Colour Eyeshadow Palette

Pantone Universe came up with a lot of makeup gift sets this year. This 24 colour eye palette was the first thing that caught my eye. I love the stackable packaging and the colours are very versatile.

Pantone Universe Set of 5 Nail Polish Set

If you can’t decided which one to go for, painting one for each finger is always a good option =) Unfortunately, I shattered the navy blue one by accident after I painted my toe nails, so I’ve substituted with a similar navy as a base for the sparkly shade.

All below are with 2 coats of each nail polish.

Ok… I am not proud of showing my toes, but I shattered the bottle on my new bathroom floor (I know…) after I painted my toes, so here we go … This is after 2 weeks of wearing. Holding up really well, no chipping at all.

My Colorful Eye Look Using Too Faced Sugar Pop Eye Shadow Palette

IMG_3488

I am not  a neutral gal when it comes to eye shadows. The Too Faced Sugar Pop eye shadow palette is one of my recent obsessions. The palette has a range of vibrant colours that are very pigmented and blendable. Here is how I created the look using this palette:

Review: Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara (Massive Midnight)

IMG_3450 IMG_3221

I’ve been looking for a navy mascara that gives a simple eye look a pop of colour. I came across the Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara in Massive Midnight. This is the new addition to the “chubby family” which was made famous by the chubby stick lip balms.

This collection was launched on 31st July 2015 with 1 permanent shade – Jumbo Jet and 4 limited edition shades – Portly Plum, Two Ton Teal, Massive Midnight, and Bodacious Black Honey.

Here is my breakdown of the important stuff:

Pigmentation: 10/10 I love the tone of the blue. It is the perfect balance of a royal blue and navy blue. It’s bright enough to give that pop of colour to a simple eye look but not too bright, so it’s still wearable for everyday.

Smudge proof: 9/10 This is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to mascara. I really appreciate a formula that doesn’t leave me with panda eyes by the end of the day. This formula definitely passes the smudge proof test!

Volumizing: 8/10 It does a descent job on volumizing my sparse eye lashes after a good 2 coats, however, due to the thickness of the formula, it tends to clump a bit when applying a 2nd or 3rd coat.

Lengthening: 8/10 I can definitely tell the lengthening effect after a good 2 coats.

Ease of removal: 9/10 I use my Colleen Rothschild Cleansing Balm (review here) gently massaging on my lashes, and wipe off with warm muslin cloth. Every bit of mascara comes off without any problem.

Cost: 8/10 It goes for £17.50. Although you can find much cheaper ones in the drugstore, this is a mid-range priced mascara when it comes to luxury brands.

Overall: 9/10 This is a beautiful mascara especially for those of you who are bit bored with black mascara to wear everyday. The thick formula makes the application volumizing and lengthening at the same time, and the best of all, it is so long wearing and smudge free. As this is a limited edition colour, I am going to get a few backups before it runs out!

Review: Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm

IMG_3204 IMG_3208

I’ve always depended on an effective face wash to take my makeup off at the end of the day. While it was quick and effective, what I didn’t realise was, it was very harsh to my skin and leaving it very dry (I have combination to oily skin)… 6 months ago, I came across Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm. With all the rave reviews on youtube, I decided to give it a go…

I’ve been using it for 6 months now, and here’s the break down on what I think of it:

Effectiveness: 9/10 I use a penny sized amount, warm up with my dry fingers before massaging into the face. I then wet the muslin cloth that comes with it under warm water, wring it, before placing on my face for a mini-facial, then start to wipe off the makeup. I do this twice just to make sure I get all the makeup off especially around the eye area. After the cleanse, my skin feels so rejuvenated and radiant without any feelings of tightness (like my previous face wash did). Did I mention, this also hasn’t broke me out.

Scent: 9/10 It smells like a spa. Aromatic and slightly citricy.

Packaging: 7/10 The packaging itself was simple and elegant, however due to the large size, it’s not the most travel friendly. However, you can get the 30ml size from Colleen Rothschild’s Discovery Collection.

Cost: 7/10 I thought this product is on the expensive side. For a whopping £50, 100ml, it will last me roughly 6-7 months (using once a day). With how amazing it makes my skin feel, I might have to bite the bullet for this one =)

Overall: 8/10 This is a game changer for me! I look forward to having my mini spa indulgence every night. It really is the full package, from the scent, the warmth of the water, the gentle massage, ending with a face that feels clean, rejuvenated and radiant. Colleen Rothschild has impressed me so much with this product, I have recently purchased her Complete Eye Cream to try, so stay tuned for more review on that!
